Don’t underestimate the power of chasing happiness in building a successful life !
Right now I can say I am truly feeling that I am a success in my life.
Why?
Because I am happy. And that is what we all really want in life isn’t it. Happiness is, in my opinion, the forgotten key to success. It is the ultimate motivator. And we are all really good at going after success these days. But how many of you have, in your search for success remembered to prioritise your happiness?
A while ago I was feeling crazy burnt out. Trying to manifest my dreams. Working hard. Working long. And to be honest getting nowhere. I wasn’t enjoying it and as Mr T would testify, I was hell to live with.
I had forgotten to prioritise my happiness.
I stepped back, remembered the things I love to do in life and guess what? Hey presto not only did I feel happier, I also began to be more successful in the tasks I had been fighting to achieve only weeks before!
And that got me thinking.
How often do we prioritise doing things we love to do in life when we are trying to be successful?
I mean we talk about it when it’s career related but what about the things we love to do purely for fun? I remember recently I had someone ask me what my interests are I listed a few, writing, harry potter, viking, belly dancing, drawing, gardening, making memories, tattooing as well as my pagan religion, and she looked at me surprised and said “well you have enough hobbies to keep you going full time!” And yes she is right. There are many things I know I love to do in life. And I am in the fortunate position right now where I can dedicate some time to those activities.
What about you? What do you love to do in life?
Not just your hobbies, but the other little things, like taking a walk in the park in the autumn or sharing a cheesecake with your best friend.
What is it that you love to do?
And when did you last stop to ask yourself this question?
I believe that these things that we love to do are some of the most important parts of life itself. Without them living would sure as heck be boring. And if you look at the world’s most successful people they all make time to make doing things they love as important as doing all the things they have to do.
If you look at the world’s most successful business people right now they all have hobbies which they dedicate time to. Such as the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Warran Buffet plays the ukulele, MArk Zukerberg hunts his own food or Meryl Streep knits. Hobbies are ‘cross-training’ when you practise multiple things the benefits of your practice transfers to other areas of your life. Doing things you love gives you a feeling of success which also benefits every area of your life.
So in order for you to make yourself feel great, happy and successful, no matter what is going on for you at the moment, you gotta remember what you love to do in life and make time to do it. It really is one of the simplest things you can do to improve your quality of life and is one we all have a tendency to overlook.

What about investing in your successful life today by dedicating 10 minutes of your day to making yourself happy and do something you love to do?
And I can hear you saying nah I am way too busy!
Stop that thought my friend!
If you are a busy person you can still prioritise your happiness just in a systematic way.Try writing a list of everything you love to do in life, the big and the little things, try and find the ones you weren’t even aware of by probing your memory.
Then grab your diary and book sometime to do one of the bigger things you love to do in the next 14 days
It really is that simple and will make your life 10 times more wonderful & 10 times more successful!
So I want to hear from you!
